But, For A Season

for a season, there was hush in a day
my spirit twittered in volumes of harmony
dear sunshine, my love, what have you done?
but, plucked me from the cherry blossom

I squint at the eagle, flapping its wings
the ant trails lead me to bigger workings
a flirtatious swing for hamates under palm trees
o' the magical resilience of a new summer's eve

I inhale the taste of fresh mint candy
I blow June breeze unto the heavens
as the mowed green grass becomes warm
my heart pines like the tree for a host of fun
only to hope the cycle shall last
and this precious blessing should not pass
my gaze forever pictures this journey
whenever the season turns dark and lonely
