Against The Grain

Somebody is trying to pull my scalp
Tie it around my neck, make me a cap
A soldier outside the earth’s orbit
That’s far out man, in my ocean of hatred
Mama couldn't swim, wouldn't swim
She pulled my hand, my fingernails dug in
Into the pit black sands, I heard the devil scream
He slept in my dreams, mean monster
The Lord is up to something, I began to laugh
I felt someone pulling my scalp
Trying to hold me back from the fight
Maybe I should walk – against the light
Resist the urge to kick rocks on a rocky shore
I can swim; it’s hot and humid out here
Out here in the Antarctic jungle
